Online Maths Tutoring in the UAE —
1-on-1 Lessons for Every Curriculum

Live one-to-one maths for students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and across the Emirates — British, American, IB, CBSE and ICSE. IGCSE, IB Maths AA and AI, SAT, AP, CBSE boards and EmSAT. One tutor, one student, every lesson — from AED 55.

  • 1-on-1 never a group
  • Every curriculum taught separately
  • UAE time after school & weekends
  • 200 students a year
  • From AED 55 per lesson

2ndRank provides live 1-on-1 online maths tutoring for students in the UAE, ages 5 to 16, across every curriculum taught in Emirati schools — British (National Curriculum, IGCSE and GCSE), American (Common Core, SAT and AP), International Baccalaureate (PYP, MYP and DP Maths AA and AI), and Indian (CBSE and ICSE). Tutors teach the specific curriculum your child's school follows, not a generic syllabus. Every student starts with a free diagnostic assessment that finds the earliest unfinished concept and, for students who have changed curriculum, maps exactly what was skipped in the transfer. Lessons run 55–60 minutes in UAE time (GST) and start at AED 55, compared with AED 150–300 an hour for a tutor who comes to your home.

The price difference

A third of the price. And nobody else in the room.

Home tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is commonly quoted at AED 150–300 an hour, and online group classes at around AED 120 a lesson — still with eight other students in the room.

Typical online group class

AED 120

per lesson

  • Group of 6–12 students
  • One curriculum taught to everyone
  • Tutor often changes each term
  • Full term paid upfront
  • Progress reports on request

Why we can do this: no centres, no franchises, no sales floor. We teach 200 students a year per subject and spend the difference on tutors rather than rent on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The UAE's maths problem

Five curriculums. One child.

No other country teaches maths like the UAE. Schools here run British, American, IB, Indian and Ministry of Education curriculums side by side — and families move between them far more often than anywhere else in the world. A generic maths tutor cannot serve all five. We teach each one separately.

Schools are inspected by KHDA in Dubai, ADEK in Abu Dhabi and SPEA in Sharjah, and every one of them reports on attainment and progress in mathematics. We ask which school, which curriculum and which exam board before the first lesson — because the answer changes everything that follows.

The decisions that matter

UAE maths isn't a ladder. It's three forks in the road.

Fork 1 · Changing curriculum

A child moving from CBSE to British, or American to IB, does not simply continue. Topics sit in different years. Some are taught twice; others are never taught at all.

The gap created by a curriculum transfer is invisible for about two years — and then appears as a sudden collapse in Year 9 or Grade 9. We map transfers specifically.

Fork 2 · Tier and level selection

IGCSE Foundation caps at grade 5. IB Maths AA HL is required for most engineering and economics degrees; AI SL is not. CBSE Class 10 Basic closes off Class 11 Mathematics entirely.

Every curriculum here has a decision that quietly sets a ceiling — and all of them are made a year or two before anyone notices.

Fork 3 · Where they'll apply

UK universities want A-level or IB. US universities want SAT or AP. UAE federal universities want EmSAT. Indian universities want board marks.

The maths a student needs depends on the country they're applying to, and that decision is usually made far later than the maths choices that enable it.

Exams and assessments

Everything your child will actually sit.

Maths olympiads and competitions we coach for

Competition maths is heavily contested in the UAE and carries real weight on university applications — particularly for students applying outside the Emirates.

CompetitionWho it's forWhat it takes
Math Kangaroo UAEGrades 1–12The widest entry point in the region. Reasoning puzzles rather than curriculum speed
SASMO (Singapore and Asian Schools Maths Olympiad)Grades 2–12Very popular across UAE schools; strong training ground
IMC (International Mathematics Competition)Grades 3–12Regional and international rounds
UKMT ChallengesBritish-curriculum schoolsJunior, Intermediate and Senior Challenges, sat in many UAE British schools
AMC 8 / AMC 10American-curriculum schoolsThe US competition ladder, sat at American schools across the Emirates

Competition maths is not harder textbook work. It is a separate skill — reading an unfamiliar problem and finding a way in. We teach it as its own track, alongside school maths, never instead of it.

What UAE parents tell us

You've probably said one of these.

“We moved from CBSE to the British curriculum and he's lost.”

Expected, and fixable — but not by working harder on current topics. Curriculum transfers skip material. We map exactly what his new school assumes he was taught, test it, and fill what's missing.

“Her CAT4 says high ability but her maths marks don't match.”

That gap is the most useful signal a UAE school produces. It almost always means a foundation gap rather than a ceiling — the ability is there and something earlier is missing.

“The school wants to put him in Foundation tier IGCSE.”

Worth understanding before you agree. Foundation caps at grade 5. A secure 5 beats an unsecure 3 on Higher — but if the reason is a Year 7 gap, that's a fixable reason, not a permanent one. We'll assess and give you an honest view.

“She has to choose AA or AI for the IB and nobody will advise us.”

Analysis & Approaches HL is required or strongly preferred for most engineering, maths, physics and economics degrees. Applications & Interpretation suits business, social sciences and design. The honest question is not which is easier — it's what she wants to study.

“Tutors here charge AED 250 an hour and come to the house.”

That is the going rate for home tutoring in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Our 1-on-1 lessons start at AED 55, online, with the same tutor throughout and a written report every month.

“CBSE Standard or Basic for Class 10?”

Basic closes off Class 11 Mathematics. If there is any chance your child will want science, commerce with maths, or engineering later, Standard keeps the door open. If the worry is marks, that's usually a Class 8 gap.

“He needs EmSAT for university here and we don't know the format.”

EmSAT Achieve Mathematics is a national standardised test used by UAE federal universities. It rewards accuracy and speed across a broad syllabus, so we prepare it as its own track with an error log, not as general revision.

“She's at a top school and still struggling.”

Common in high-performing UAE schools. Fast-paced teaching assumes every student arrived with the same foundation — and in a city where children arrive from six different education systems, almost none of them did.

Why one-to-one

In a city with five curriculums, a group class can't work.

A group maths class in the UAE teaches one syllabus to students who are sitting five different exams. Somebody in that room is always being taught the wrong thing.

The 2ndRank method

Five steps. The second one is the one that works.

  1. 01

Diagnose — and map the transfer

A free 30-minute assessment with a real tutor. We find the earliest concept your child cannot explain and, if they have changed curriculum, exactly what the move skipped.

  2. 02

    Go back

We teach that concept properly, even when it sits three years below. This feels wrong to most parents and it is the step every other programme skips.

  3. 03

    Run two tracks at once

School maths — in your child's actual curriculum and exam board — continues alongside the repair, so they never fall further behind the class.

  4. 04

    Make them explain it

Every lesson ends with your child teaching the method back to the tutor. A student who can explain it won't lose it before the exam.

  5. 05

    Report in writing

A written progress report every month, sent without you asking. You will always know what changed and what is next.

What we won't do: promise a grade or a university place, teach a generic syllabus and call it your child's curriculum, stretch a 50-lesson course across 100 lessons to bill longer, or sell you a package your child doesn't need. If the assessment says they're fine, we'll tell you that.

Scheduling

Lessons in UAE time.

After school, evenings and weekends

Weekday after-school and evening slots Monday to Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday mornings. Your lesson time is fixed and always shown in Gulf Standard Time.

No time-zone compromise

The UAE sits close enough to our tutors' time zone that your child never has to take a lesson at an awkward hour. After-school slots are genuinely after school, not late at night.

Our tutors teach British, American, IB, CBSE and ICSE maths specifically — not a generic syllabus. You will meet your child's tutor at the free assessment, before you commit to anything.

Try this tonight

Four checks that tell you more than a school report.

1 · The explain test

Ask why a method works, not to do it. "Why do you flip the second fraction when you divide?" A child who can only perform it has memorised, not understood.

2 · The speed test

Times tables and number bonds should be recalled, not worked out. Watch for the pause and the glance upward — that pause costs marks in every test they will ever sit.

3 · The backwards test

Give them a question from two years below. It should be effortless. If it isn't, you have just found the real gap — and if they changed curriculum, you have probably found what the move skipped.

4 · The worded problem test

Plenty of students can solve 3x + 7 = 22 but cannot turn a sentence into it. That gap is translation, not maths — and IGCSE, SAT and EmSAT all punish it hardest.
